2017 Wrexham Tourism Award Winner!




Destination Wrexham team launch 2017 Year of Legends and celebrate growing tourism scene in third annual awards at Chirk Castle.The awards’ ‘celebrated and showcased the achievements’ of Wrexham’s tourism industry – including the best visitor attraction, best restaurant / cafe and the rising star award. Organised by Wrexham’s Destination Management Partnership, this year’s award ceremony will took place at Chirk Castle on March 23rd. Officially unveiling the exciting launch of Wrexhams Year of Legends tourism celebrations, including events such as DragonFest and a marketing campaign backed by Visit Wales to promote legendary reasons to visit the region this year.

Speaking about this year’s Wrexham Tourism Awards, Joe Bickerton, Destination Manager at Wrexham Council said: “As much as we can shout about how our County Borough is a great place to visit for leisure and business – we rely heavily on the service and welcome that our businesses provide,

“From the greeting in the cab from the station through to the goodbye when checking out of a local hotel – we want visitors to remember Wrexham for the right reasons and fortunately that is what’s continually happening.”

Jeannie Chantler, General Manager of Bangor on Dee Racecourse, was honoured with the Outstanding Achievement Award at the Wrexham Tourism Awards 2017.

Jeannie said: “I am both proud and very humbled to receive this coveted award.  Being a major attraction in the Wrexham area we at Bangor on Dee work as much as we can with the community and the businesses within in and support them wherever possible.  I* look forward to continuing to do so in 2018 and onwards”
