Glast-on-Dee Music Night has Racegoers Rocking

Bangor-on-Dee welcomed a ‘A Sky Full of Stars’ for a Glast-on-Dee Music Night on Friday 28 June, as Coldplay and Elton John tributes acts entertained racegoers before and after racing.

It was a fantastic evening on the racecourse, with Viva La Vida opening proceedings and Elite Elton rounding off the night with a crowd engaging performance.

In between all the musical entertainment, there were a few impressive performers on the track too, with a thrilling card of seven races.

Exmoor Forest came through to challenge favourite Happy Du Mesnil and prevail under the ride of James Davies in the opener, the Glast-on-Dee Music Night Handicap Steeple Chase.

Jerrash was then an impressive winner of the Becks Handicap Steeple Chase with Gavin Sheehan in the saddle, while Henry Brooke rode Dog Fox to victory in the Wynnstay Novices Handicap Hurdle Race for trainers Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero.

Zeeband cruised to a win by 11 lengths in the Camden Stout Handicap Hurdle for jockey Danny Gilligan and his father and trainer Paul John Gilligan.

Sam Twiston-Davies got Briefly up to just about see off Moon Lady in a great battle in the Bangor-on-Dee Mares’ Maiden Hurdle Race Div I, while Scarlet O’Tara claimed the Div II race with Charlie Hammond on board.

The final race of the night resulted in a customary winner for trainer Donald McCain, who watched William Maggs ride Home Sweet Highway to success in the Horseradish Catering & Events Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle Race.
