Like fashion, the dress code at Bangor-on-Dee has seasons. The summer season is a time when many racegoers like to dress up, including the donning of hats, however, at Bangor-on-Dee, unlike a lot of courses, we have no strict dress code in our public enclosures.

In winter, it’s especially important to be comfortable and dress for the elements so you will often see racegoers in long boots or even wellingtons, winter jackets and ear-warming hats.

If you are planning on dining in one of our hospitality facilities or restaurants, please note that denim and trainers aren’t permitted.

If you are attending racing as part of a celebration (say Hen or Stag party) and are planning on wearing fancy dress, please contact the box office and who can provide you with further advice.

Depending on the type of admission booked, you will have a ticket or a swing-badge. The latter should be prominently displayed – usually from a button hole or a handbag strap – so that it can be readily seen by officials.

A good deal of walking is involved and is part and parcel of any racecourse visit, often on grassy ground so be practical when it comes to footwear and dressing for the elements.

Bangor Racecourse has a proactive attitude to catering for racegoers with accessibility needs.

At Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse we pride ourselves in providing modern facilities for all racegoers.  Limited hard-standing parking is available in the car park, facilitating easy access to the turnstiles. Alternatively, there are designated accessible car parking areas in all car parks.

The Racecourse is single storey, making all public areas easily accessible to racegoers.

A designated viewing area has been established in the Paddock enclosure that gives particularly good views of the track and winning post.

Guide dogs are welcome.

All racegoers with accessibility concerns will be charged the standard ticket price, but if they are accompanied by a carer, the carer may enter designated areas free of charge.

There are two enclosures to choose from at Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse, along with a number of pre-bookable restaurant packages and private hospitality options.

A dynamic ticket pricing policy is in place for fixtures at Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse, with the best prices available the earlier you book. Please be aware that hospitality orders and enclosure ticket purchases are subject to a £0.75 web sales booking fee per transaction.

On selected fixtures an all-inclusive Punters Package will be available and can only be bought in advance.

Subject to availability, enclosure tickets can be purchased at the gate. If you choose to purchase your tickets on the day both Open Course and Paddock Enclosure tickets will be subject to an on the day increment, but will not be subject to a booking fee. Both cash and card payments are accepted on each entrance to the course.

Upgrades on the day are available. Please be advised that you must adhere to the dress code applicable in the enclosure you wish to upgrade. Available places are issued on a first come, first served basis.

Getting a group of friends together for racing can be a lot of fun and can create lots of lovely memories.

Children aged 17 and under who are accompanied by an adult are admitted free of charge every raceday at Bangor-on-Dee across all enclosures. Hospitality places for children are available at a discounted price. Please speak to the Hospitality team for more information.

There are ample opportunities to indulge when you get to Bangor-on-Dee with a variety of different food and drink concessions on offer.

Within the Open Course, we are happy for racegoers to bring picnics (including alchohol) to the Open Course and BBQs are permitted, however we ask that you are considerate to other racegoers when operating a BBQ. Racegoers are prohibited from taking picnics or alcohol into the Paddock Enclosure.

The Paddock Enclosure food court offers racegoers a range of food and beverage options to choose from within our new Food Court. There’s something for every appetite including The Grill, Pies and Hot Drinks, and Traditional Fish & Chips. Please note picnics are only permitted on the Open course and NOT within the Paddock Enclosure.

Alternatively, you could upgrade your day and enjoy a Hospitality Package. Restaurant dining at Bangor is often a nice way to escape the elements and if you’ve purchased an admission ticket, you can often upgrade to a restaurant by paying the difference before your visit.

Whilst cards are accepted at most of our vendors, for betting and refreshments, it is advisable to bring cash with you. Food and beverage concessions accept contactless payments. Cash can be withdrawn using card or mobile payment (Apple Pay, Google Pay etc.) by visiting the race day office.

An official Bangor-on-Dee racecard contains all the information you could possibly need for your raceday. Racecards are available to purchase from selected vendors throughout the course priced at just £4.

Digital Racecards

We are proud to provide digital racecards to racegoers who may have visual impairments. These PDF digital racecards can be used with software to read out the contents of the racecourse to the listener through earphones or speakers. Please note, you must have the software yourself pre-installed on your device in order to do this. We cannot assist with the install of software. Betting Bangor Tote is very simple and easy to understand. The ‘live information’ screens around the course and close to every betting position give you an indication of how much you could win. These ‘odds’ are shown to a £1 stake and are a live estimate of the likely Racecourse Price (RP). The confirmed RP is generated as soon as the race finishes so as soon as your horse wins, and the official result has been announced, take your winning ticket to any Bangor Tote position where the operator will scan it and pay you your winnings.
